What Is Our Research Approach?

Ocean Coatings has years of experience in sustainable manufacturing, research and development. Our technical solutions are high-quality, efficient, and reliable. Ocean Coatings makes use of a network of testing centers and production sites, such as the UK's leading offshore research centre Catapult (As seen in the images below).


Our R&D team work daily on developing new sustainable technologies and customized applications. Our main goal is to meet the specific needs of every customer we work with. During our development projects, we work closely with our customers and regularly incorporate their feedback into the process.

Areas Of Research


We have over a decade of research into the Marine sector covering various waters across the globe. Essentially this research has allowed us to develop an advanced eco coating system for 'anti-fouling', which we named F2 - Fouling Freedom. A new approach, that is far away from the well known issues of traditional anti-fouling. Preventing biofouling with zero risk to yourself or the Marine Environment. 100% Eco Friendly solution giving you improved performance, fuel savings, also giving you years of protection from a single application.  


Offshore Energy

Our research into the automotive sector has supported our development of our Eco-Sensitive auto detailing products EcoFinish, to help protect the user, the asset and the environment.

The research was not to develop 'me too' products, but an original development to create a highly effective range but without the use of toxic or hazardous ingredients.


This really has been a welcome development for those professionals who want to protect their health while providing the best possible service.

After years of research into the offshore energy sector, we have developed some highly advanced specialist coatings. These have been developed to help protect high value offshore assets and improve energy production efficiencies. A couple examples of our offshore coatings:


  • An energy absorbing coating that is easy to apply, that protects against leading edge erosion on wind turbines. 
  • A nano hybrid polyurethane coating that will enhance, restore and extend the surface life of paint surfaces. Offers extreme weather, scratch and erosion resistance.
  • A friction reducer additive for the gearboxes of wind turbines. Improves efficiency and protects.
